Chandler teen charged in ‘reckless’ shooting
Posted
INDEPENDENT NEWSMEDIA
A 16-year-old has been charged in the Nov. 3 shooting of another teen, who remains hospitalized, police said Friday.
Chandler police arrested the shooting suspect on Nov. 11 and booked him into the Maricopa County Juvenile Detention Facility on two counts of aggravated assault among other charges, officials said.
The shooting occurred on the afternoon of Nov. 3 at a home in the 700 block of East County Down Drive, police said.
Authorities said they received a call from a 16-year-old boy who reported another teen was shot after the two of them were “playing with a gun.
“When officers arrived, they found a 16-year-old male in a bedroom with a gunshot wound to the mid-torso area. The teen was alert and immediately transported to a hospital in serious condition.”
Police reported the gun discharged while the teen who lived at the house was “recklessly handling” the weapon.
