3-year-old dies after 2 hours inside car at West Valley home: police

Posted

A 3-year-old girl died Sunday after being left inside her family’s car for about two hours, Buckeye police said.

Police received a call just before 5 p.m. Sept. 8 about a child found unresponsive in a “hot car” at a home near 212th Lane and Granada, authorities stated in a release.

Officers began chest compressions on the girl and attempted to use an AED before medics arrived to take the child to a hospital where she was pronounced dead.

Preliminary information indicated the family returned from a trip to a park sometime after 2 p.m., police said. Hours later, family members began searching for the girl and found her unresponsive in the vehicle.

It is believed she was unaccounted for for approximately two hours, according to police.
