Bryan Jerome McMahon, 87, of Sun City West, Arizona, died Oct. 21, 2021. His family and friends celebrated his life - from newspaper boy, athlete, veteran, and banker to Red Cross volunteer, singer, and jewelry maker. Bryan was born May 18, 1934, in St. Paul, Minnesota, the second of four children born to John F. and Helen Fischer McMahon. During World War II, the family moved to Mare Island, California, where his father was stationed with a U.S. Navy submarine unit. Bryan would later serve in the U.S. Army. While at Jefferson High School in Daly City, California, Bryan played football with NFL Hall of Famer John Madden and caught for pitcher Ed Cereghino, who played for the New York Yankees. He worked in banking for Bank of America, the Federal Reserve Bank, First State Bank of Oregon, and Key Bank and Key Corp. Bryan and his first wife Anita Ornelas had five children before she died of cancer in 1978. He married Janet Anderson in 1981. Bryan was a Red Cross volunteer working on local wildfires in Oregon. He later joined the national Red Cross, which assisted with the 9/11 terrorist attacks. During retirement, Bryan and Janet traveled the United States and Canada before settling in Sun City West. Bryan volunteered at MLB training camps, sang in a choir called The Westernairs and a quartet, The Fourth Quarter. He also took up gemstone jewelry-making. Bryan was preceded in death by his first wife Anita and son, Eric. He is survived by his wife Janet, of Sun City West, AZ; 4 children and 2 stepdaughters; 15 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.
