According to the Arizona Department of Health Services, there are 66,458 cases and 1,535 deaths of COVID-19 as of Friday morning, up 3,428 and 45, respectively, from Thursday.
The numbers of cases per 100,000 residents in the state is 913 as of Friday, using 2019 estimates from the U.S. Census Bureau. Maricopa County is below that at 883. Santa Cruz County is at 3,521 cases per 100,000 residents, the highest in the state. Navajo and Apache counties, which include parts of the Navajo Nation, are at 3,035 and 3,130 per 100,000 residents, respectively.

For most people, the coronavirus causes mild or moderate symptoms such as fever and cough that clear up in two to three weeks.
But for some — especially older adults and people with existing health problems — it can cause more severe illness, including pneumonia and death.
