Sarah Israel, an 11th grade Glendale resident, is the Arizona Department of Education’s October Student of the Month.

Israel is currently working as a medical assistant at Foothill Neurology and has received early admittance to Grand Canyon University’s Honors Program among other accomplishments.

She attends Insight Academy of Arizona, a tuition-free, online K-12 public school. Israel was selected from 126 nomination letters received by the Department for this new program.

Insight Academy of Arizona is located at 5323 N. 99th Ave., Suite 210, in Glendale.

Israel is enrolled in ISAZ’s Career and Technician Education program and has completed the school’s medical assisting pathway and earned her certified medical assisting certification. She boasts a 4.0 grade point average and has earned 15 college credit hours while finishing this school year as an early three-year graduate.

She is the local chapter president of ISAZ’s healthcare occupation student organization’s chapter, and she helped her team win three first-place medals at HOSA’s state competition in March.

Israel has received early admittance to Grand Canyon University’s Honors Program where she plans to major in biology, focusing on pre-medicine, and a minor in communications. She has also received $40,000 in scholarships.

“Sarah is a highly intelligent young woman, but more than that, she is driven to do her best, to maximize every opportunity and to make a real difference in this world,” Dr. Erica Young-Jackson, the ISAZ and AZVA CTE administrator, shared in a press release. “It is such an honor to mentor her. I cannot wait to see where she goes from here.”
