SHOOTING

Apparent murder-suicide in north Phoenix leaves 4 dead

Posted

Phoenix police detectives  were piecing together evidence Monday from two shooting scenes where a marital dispute may have led to the deaths of two men, a woman and a teenage boy.

Police responded just after 11 a.m. Dec. 18 to a commercial business near 27th Avenue and Deer Valley Road where they found a man and a woman with gunshot wounds. The man died at the scene, and the woman died at a hospital, police said.

Patrol officers and detectives spoke to witnesses, and information led them to a home near 23rd Avenue and Utopia Road. Upon arrival, officers found the suspect’s vehicle in the driveway.

A search warrant was obtained, police said, and officers from the Special Assignments Unit entered the home where they found a man with a self-inflicted gunshot wound and a teenage boy who was dead.

A dog was also shot and killed, according to a release.

“Preliminary information suggests the suspect drove to a business where he shot and killed his estranged wife and another male,” the release stated.

“He then drove home where killed his son and then turned the gun on himself. The motive appears to be over a marital dispute.”
