Apache Junction Prospectors defeated by Sentinels
Posted
By Isaac Robertson | Intern at AJUSD
The Apache Junction Prospectors (0-1-1) met with the Seton Catholic Sentinels (2-3-1) on March 6. The Prospectors were looking to notch their first win of the softball season while the Sentinels were looking to make it two in a row.
Brooke Zuluaga of the Sentinels only allowed four hits in seven innings of work. The highlight of the game for the Prospectors was a leadoff home run in the bottom of the fourth by Shaunna Harper. Kylee Akton was another key player for the Prospectors as she was responsible for half of the hits on offense, notching two of them.
Opposing walks meant the Sentinels were able to draw long at-bats and constantly put pressure on Apache Junction. The small-ball game plan from the Sentinels proved to be successful throughout the game’s entirety. The Sentinels won, 10-1.
The Prospectors dropped their second game of the year but there are too many more games left to be counted out yet.
