Mesa police are investigating four separate shootings that left three people dead and one person recovering in the hospital, authorities said Saturday.
Officers have identified an investigative lead and are in the process of questioning that person, police said in a release.
About 10:30 p.m. May 26, officers were sent to Beverly Park, 115 N. Beverly, for a report of a person found dead. Officers discovered the body of a 41-year-old man.
“While still at the park, officers heard shots fired nearby, and other officers began to search the area,” police said in a release.
About 12:15 a.m. on May 27, officers found a 36-year-old woman with injuries at Stewart and Main Street. She was taken to a hospital where she is in stable condition and will undergo surgery for serious injuries, police said.
Another person called police just before 1 a.m. to report a dead man outside the Greyhound station near 200 S. Country Club Drive. Officers arrived and found the body of a 41-year-old man, according to authorities.
“Officers saturated the area in search of the suspect and other victims and ultimately discovered another body (believed to be an adult male) just after 2 a.m. near 200 S. Extension,” police said.
All four victims had gunshot wounds. Their names will not be released until next of kin notifications have been made, according to police.
“While this case is very complex and still in the beginning stages, the Mesa Police Department has identified an investigative lead, who is currently detained,” police said in the release.
Search warrants are being served and interviews of potential witnesses are still being conducted.
