Scottsdale Unified School District welcomed students to the first day of class for the 130th time Aug. 10.
“Founded in 1896 by Chaplain Winfield Scott and his wife Helen, we have been part of the fabric of this community long before the city was officially incorporated 75 years ago,” Superintendent Scott Menzel said in an email to the Daily Independent. “One hundred thirty years reflects ‘a legacy of learning’ that has generational impact. We plan to celebrate that legacy of success while working to build on it for future generations.”
A few schools within the district are also marking their own anniversaries too.
