Scottsdale business wins housing quality award

On the heels of winning multiple awards including Home of the Year at the PCBC Gold Nugget Awards in May, Camelot Homes, with an office and design studio at 6607 N. Scottsdale Road, suite H-100, has now won the highest honor for operational excellence in the home building industry, taking home the gold in the 2024 National Housing Quality Award, sponsored by Pro Builder Media.

“To learn that we’ve finally achieved the gold award for operational excellence as judged by peers in the industry was truly a thrill and one of our highest goals!” said Camelot Homes Managing Director Julie Hancock. “We all worked very hard to earn this recognition, and we’re grateful to the NHQA judges for serving as the catalyst for our company to level up our processes and establish the metrics to track the improvements that have made Camelot worthy of this prestigious award. I am so proud of our entire team!”

This is the first time since 2019 that a company has achieved gold status. It’s not, however, the first time Camelot has entered the NHQ Awards. In fact, the management team at the Scottsdale-based luxury homebuilder says they weren’t quite prepared for the intensive scrutiny the company would encounter through the initial evaluation process, which included a site visit from the judges and interviews with Camelot team members, customers, and trade partners. Following their 2021 NHQ bronze award, Camelot received a 20-plus page feedback report evaluating Camelot’s answers to the 167-question application. And then they went back to work over the next two years to achieve gold.

Camelot added individual performance metrics to existing company-wide key performance indicators, took a deep dive on customer service operations, and created a diversification strategy that would help them thrive even with fluctuations in the economy. As a result, over the past few years, Camelot has added an entry level luxury division, a custom home and renovation division and expanded their investment and building in the build to rent category.
