Royse Contemporary presents “When You’re Here,” a solo exhibition of artist Gennaro Garcia on display through Feb. 9 at 7077 E. Main Street, Suite 6, in the Scottsdale Arts District.

The exhibition highlights the artist’s style and voice, as his latest body of work includes paintings, monosilk prints, and sculptures, showcasing world-class skill using a combination of Italian techniques working with oils, acrylics, plaster, said to be mixed with the “vibrant Mexican color palette of his childhood.”

“Art is addictive and therapeutic, it is the best way to communicate the way I feel, think, love,” said Mr. Garcia in a prepared statement, adding that his passion as an artist is to create art in every technique, style, color, texture.

Always creating and evolving within his art, he infuses his work with familiar imagery and subjects inspired by his dual identities as Mexican and American and from a Latino immigrant perspective, according to the press release.

A native of San Luis, Sonora, Mexico, Mr. Garcia migrated to Arizona in his early 20s “with drive, passion and the desire to create art,” the release said.

His work is featured in numerous galleries and private collections in the U.S. and Mexico. He has exhibited his artwork in more than 80 exhibitions in the past five years and has been featured in numerous local and national publications including.

The recipient of the Masters of the Southwest Award, presented by the Phoenix Home & Garden, in 2018, Mr. Garcia partnered with Aaron Chamberlin opening Taco Chelo in downtown Phoenix, highlighting the traditions of Mexican food and his artwork.

He has handled the interior design of over a dozen restaurants, featuring his art and furniture design including Tempe Public Market, Ghost Ranch and Taco Chelo.
