NDP’s Eddy hopes to keep tennis part of her future life

Posted

Name: Julija Eddy

School, spring sport and position/event: Notre Dame Preparatory High School, Tennis/JV

How long have you been playing your sport? I have been playing tennis for seven years.

Why did you choose to play your sport? Tennis was something that was completely new to me the first time I saw the game being played. I loved that I could play tennis now and hopefully long into the future. I love that this game requires focus and concentration, and playing doubles is a great way to learn and appreciate teamwork.

What is your favorite personal sports memory from your playing career? I remember having one of the best practices right before tryouts, and it started to rain which made it even more fun (for me personally).

Who has impacted you the most along your sports journey? Why? My very first tennis coach who watched me grow up and improve my game of tennis. He never gave up on me and always pushed me to be my best.

What are you going to miss most about high school sports? Teamwork is something that I will miss for sure. Four years has flown by very fast, and even off the court there is always your friend/teammate by your side at school.

What comes next for you after high school? Tennis will always be my go-to sport, but my next step is to focus on my studies and everything that comes along with college.

What advice would you give to the underclassmen? Don’t give up on a sport just because it was challenging and something else may sound more interesting. Nothing can replace the memories you make with your teammates. Also, cherish the moments that you have and thank your coach because you never know what can happen next (like not being able to finish your last season).
