NDP’s Chasse enjoys friendships made during tennis

Posted

Name: Rylee Chasse

School, spring sport and position/event: Notre Dame Preparatory, Tennis

Awards or recognitions you’ve received while playing in high school: Play Like A Champion Award (2018)

How long have you been playing your sport? Five years

Why did you choose to play your sport? I wanted to meet new people and be a part of a team during high school. I also liked playing tennis with my family in the past.

What is your favorite personal sports memory from your playing career? During my sophomore year, we were in Flagstaff for our retreat. While we were driving, it started snowing and Coach Dinges pulled the bus over. We all ran out, took photos, and danced in the snow. We had so much fun together and it was such a happy memory for our team.

Who has impacted you the most along your sports journey? Why? Both my coach and my team have impacted me so much. They have taught me to have good sportsmanship and that tennis is just as much of a team sport as it is an individual sport. Being a part of tennis with them has been unforgettable, and I’m so lucky to have been surrounded by these amazing people for the past four years.

What are you going to miss most about high school sports? Out of everything from high school tennis, I am definitely going to miss my team the most. These girls are some of the most loving and supportive people I have ever met. I could always count on my teammates to cheer me on, and they never fail to put a smile on my face and make me laugh. We have such an amazing bond, and I know that I will never forget the amazing memories I have made with them!

What comes next for you after high school? I am so excited to be going to Texas Christian University in the fall!

What advice would you give to the underclassmen? I would say to never take this team for granted. I am so grateful for everything I have experienced with this team, and I wouldn’t trade these past 4 years with them for the world. Being on tennis is one of the best things I have been a part of, and I would have never expected the season to be cut so short. This team has given me some of my best friends, and I love all of them so much!
