1 man dead after single-vehicle collision in Scottsdale

Posted

An elderly man has died after his vehicle collided with a stop light pole around 5:30 a.m. Oct. 14 in Scottsdale, police officials say.

The collision took place on the northwest corner of 68th Street and Indian School Road.

The driver has been identified as 90-year-old Daniel Aguirre.

Officials say it appears the driver was going southbound on 68th Street before the collision. The driver was the only occupant in the vehicle.

He was transported to a local hospital where he was pronounced dead.

Officials say impairment and speed do not appear to be factors in this collision.

The intersection of the collision was closed for investigation, but police announced on Twitter at 9:31 a.m. that the intersection was reopened.
