Ocotillo widening project underway in Queen Creek

Ocotillo Road, the east-west route through the heart of Queen Creek, is being widened from Ironwood to Signal Butte roads.
The project includes widening Ocotillo Road to two lanes in each direction with center turn lanes, bike lanes, sidewalks, drainage improvements, utility modifications and intersection enhancements at Meridian Road and Barnes Parkway.
The project also will widen Meridian Road south to two lanes in each direction, connecting to the previously widened road.
Improvements are anticipated to be complete in late 2022.
“This project is another example of our commitment to ‘Better Roads Ahead’ in Queen Creek,” said Queen Creek Mayor Gail Barney in a press release. “With the completion of this project, Ocotillo Road will be two lanes in each direction from Ironwood all the way to Hawes. The project is being completed with support from Maricopa County and W Holdings. We know roadway improvements can be inconvenient and we appreciate the community’s continued patience while we make these important infrastructure improvements.”

Another major road project under construction is the extension of State Route 24, which will provide two lanes in each direction from Ellsworth to Ironwood. The Arizona Department of Transportation project will provide major relief for Queen Creek and the region. The interim road will include access ramps at Williams Field, Signal Butte, Meridian and Ironwood. It is anticipated to be complete in fall 2022. For more information, visit QueenCreekAZ.gov/SR24.

The Town is halfway through the 10-year infrastructure improvement plan. Since 2016, the following major road improvements have been completed:

Power - Ocotillo to Brooks Farm
Riggs - Power to Meridian
Meridian - Cherrywood to Combs
Germann - Meridian to Ironwood
Rittenhouse – 213th to Riggs
