Phoenix man sentenced for 2022 carjacking in Peoria

A 23-year-old Phoenix man was sentenced to more than 14 years in prison for a 2022 carjacking in Peoria, the U.S, Attorney’s Office District of Arizona announced Tuesday in a news release.

Adonijah Ortega previously pleaded guilty to carjacaking and discharge of a firearm and was sentenced on Sept. 3, the release said.

According to the release, on the morning of Aug. 8, 2022, Ortega approached the victim in a business parking lot in Peoria. There, he demanded the victim’s wallet and keys and a physical confrontation ensued.
