Peoria buys property for storage, maintenance
Posted
INDEPENDENT NEWSMEDIA
The Peoria Fire-Medical Department will now have more room for its fleet vehicles and other associated equipment.
The city approved the purchase of a 26,240 square foot industrial building at 733 W. Seldon Lane, on 1.72 acres to be used for storage of apparatus, emergency medical supplies and equipment associated with the fleet maintenance of the Peoria Fire-Medical Department vehicles.
The city bought the property for $2.7 million.
The department currently provides fleet maintenance at a site that was purchased in 2013 at 8557 N. 78th Ave.
As a result of growth in the city, additional fire stations are in operation and the fire-medical department has outgrown storage space for reserve apparatus and equipment related to emergency medical supplies.
