A permit has been approved for a sign plan for a Circle K Burrito Express at Ellsworth and University Drive in Mesa.
The Mesa Board of Adjustment voted 5-0 on Dec. 3 to approve the special use permit for a comprehensive sign plan in the limited commercial district. Boardmember Todd Trendler was absent, according to the draft meeting minutes.
The Circle K Burrito Express is on 2 acres at 9230 E. University Drive.
The applicant is Brett Berres of Graham’s Neon. The owner is Toms Investments LLC.
The signs are needed to display the branding on multiple sides of the building, Berres said in a written project narrative.
“Previously permitted Circle K signs are to remain while two additional Burrito Express signs are placed on different elevations of the building to be seen while traveling in multiple directions,” it states.
The seven-member Board of Adjustment conducts public meetings to hear and decide requests for variances, special-use permits and interpretations of the city of Mesa zoning ordinance and sign code. Members are appointed for staggered terms of three years, according to the city’s website.
