Sherwood Park tree planting event Feb. 22 in Mesa

February is Love My Park Month in Mesa and a way to appreciate your city’s parks is to plant a tree with the community.

Join Mesa, Arizona Sustainability Alliance Tree Stewards and neighbors to plant up to 100 trees 8 a.m.-noon Saturday, Feb. 22, at Sherwood Park, 1453 S Horne in Mesa.

Volunteers will be working to beautify the park and expand tree canopy cover by adding desert-adapted and desert-native shade trees. Ensuring equitable tree cover throughout every neighborhood can help minimize the social inequities that impact marginalized communities, according to a release.

Participants will also have a chance for a sneak peek at M.O.R.E. — Mesa Outdoor Recreation Experience — the new mobile nature unit of the Mesa Parks and Recreation team.

Get more event details and sign up to volunteer from a link at https://www.mesaaz.gov/Activities-Culture/City-Calendar/Sherwood-Park-Tree-Planting.
