Higley Unified School District’s No. 2 administrator will lead the district in the interim after Superintendent Dawn Foley’s resignation from the district.
Associate Superintendent Sherry Richards was identified in a district statement as the lead administrator until a new superintendent is appointed.
Richards has served as associate superintendent for the past year following four years as the district’s executive director for elementary education. She joined the district in 2011 as an elementary school principal.
Foley’s resignation, effective June 30, was accepted by the governing board at a special meeting June 6.
The district’s statement indicated the governing board and district leadership are “committed to conducting a thorough search for a new superintendent.”
The statement also thanked Foley for her service, “which led to remarkable achievements for our district,” and wished her well in future endeavors.
