Mesa officers injured in fight with man at Dutch Bros Coffee

Three Mesa police officers were injured Saturday morning after they fought a man a Dutch Bros Coffee.

Officers responded to a call Saturday morning, March 11, after being notified that a man was being verbally abusive to staff at the coffee franchise located near Ray and Power roads. He left before police arrived but returned and “approached officers in a hostile manner,” police said in a release.

A taser was used but did not connect, and a fight broke out among officers and the man, authorities said.

Police did not know the extent of injuries late Saturday morning, “but we do have officers at the hospital,” they said.

The suspect is in custody and being evaluated for DUI, police said.
