The Mesa City Council is set to vote on a $500,000-per-year contract to upgrade sewer inspection closed-circuit television equipment at their upcoming meeting.
The meeting takes place at 5:45 p.m. May 19 at 20 E. Main St. The eight-year cooperative contract with Sourcewall would upgrade the current inspection equipment and system to an AI-powered solution called SewerAI. Council documents say the purchase will enable the modernization of hardware and robotics and increase operational efficiency.
“CCTV equipment is used for inspecting and assessing sewer infrastructure. This technology is crucial for preserving the integrity of sewer pipes, pipelines, and manholes. By identifying issues early, these tools enable the department to take proactive measures to prevent failures and strategically plan projects that enhance the longevity of the wastewater collections system,” the council documents stated.
According to the council documents, the contract, if approved, would run from May 19, 2025 to Jan. 17, 2026. The contract would be funded by the Wastewater Enterprise Operating and Maintenance fund.
