The Mesa City Council voted to approve a contract for Hach OEM equipment, parts and services for the Water Resources Department at a recent meeting.
The vote was 5-1 as part of a consent agenda to approve a roughly $1.5 million, 32-month cooperative term contract award using the city of Tempe, Strategic Alliance for Volume Expenditures cooperative contract with Hach. Council member Jen Duff voted no on the consent agenda at the Nov. 17 meeting over a separate agenda item.
According to council documents, the instruments and maintenance kits from the contract will be used by city staff to analyze water samples for chemical and physical properties, clean and calibrate equipment and more.
“These instruments often connect to data-logging systems or SCADA platforms, providing real-time data that supports broader work flows for monitoring, reporting and regulatory compliance,” council documents stated. “This contract will ensure the city has uninterrupted access to the tools and support necessary for effective water management.”
The contract is valued at $580,000 per year and will run from Nov. 17, 2025 to July 9, 2028 with an additional renewal option of up to two years if approved. The contract is funded by the Water and Wastewater Operations and Maintenance Fund and Greenfield Joint Venture and Operations and Maintenance Fund.
