The Mesa City Council voted to approve the proposed city budget for Fiscal Year 2025 during their June 3 meeting.
By a vote of 6-0 the city’s budget for Fiscal Year 2024-2025 was set at $2.69 billion. Mayor John Giles was absent.
The funds would be split up with multiple categories, with the most being $558.7 million going to the general fund and $562 million for restricted funds.
The proposed general governmental funds budget is around $670.2 million. Police get the biggest share with $251 million, transfers gets $111.7 million while fire and medical services is $110.9 million.
The council also held a public hearing on a secondary property tax at their June 3 meeting. They will vote on it at their June 17 meeting which takes place at 5:45 p.m. at the council chambers at 57 E. First St.
