Mesa residents will be able to collaborate in creating an art installation for the new City Hall with Art in the Park, an interactive free event that brings art, crafts and music to neighborhoods.

The remaining family-friendly event is 5-7 p.m. Thursday, March 28, at August Ranch Park, 9455 E. Neville Ave.

Art in the Park encourages residents to leave their mark on the city’s history by collaborating with artist Beth Nybeck to create a work of art for the new City Hall.

The sculpture, known as “Flip Side,” will be an M-shaped wall containing more than 300 tiles. One side will have a black and white photograph of a person, while the flip side will have a message from that person on a colorful tile to showcase the community’s faces and voices. The new artwork will be unveiled at the grand opening next fall and will be on display for up to a year.

Art in the Park is part of Together Mesa, an initiative launched in May 2022 that embraces our community’s rich diversity and inspires residents to get involved in their local community. Together Mesa collects and showcases the voices that make Mesa, fostering awareness and understanding to strengthen us as a city.
