Seven candidates for Mesa Public Schools governing board seats have filed signatures to be on the ballot, according to the Office of the Maricopa County School Superintendent.
In the approaching Nov. 8 mid-term elections, Mesa Public Schools governing board has two seats open. Board members Jenny Richardson and Marcie Hutchinson have terms that are coming to an end Dec. 31.
According to the Maricopa County school superintendent’s website, the candidates and the number of signatures filed were:
- Ray Deer, 528.
- Chris Hamlet, 824.
- Marcie Hutchinson, 698.
- Jacob Martinez, 770.
- Ed Steele, 744.
- Rachel Walden, 1,210.
- J. R. Wright, 569.
MPS is the largest public school district in Arizona and has six high schools, nine junior high schools, 50 elementary schools and 17 choice and success schools.
