The Higley Unified School District has issued a three-contract to David Loutzenheiser to be its next superintendent.
The contract, approved by the governing board during its April 1 meeting, has a starting base salary of $210,000 per year, which is $4,000 more than retiring Superintendent Sherry Richards.
The base salary can be raised in subsequent years equal to the percentage raises given to other 12-month administrators in the district.
Loutzenheiser also can earn up to $7,500 in performance-based pay if he meets performance standards set in conjunction with the governing board.
Other stipulations in the contract include:
District health insurance eligibility;
District-paid premiums of up to $1,000 per month on up to $500,000 of life insurance;
District administrator disability insurance eligibility;
An annual administrator stipend of $10,000;
Professional liability coverage;
Up to 26 days of vacation annually and 15 days of general leave;
An automobile allowance of up to $750 per month;
Expense reimbursement.
Loutzenheiser, the district’s executive director of secondary education and athletics, was selected last month to replace Richards. He begins his new role July 1, and his contract expires June 30, 2028, though the board can extend him.
“I just want to say how excited I am to start my new role in July and how proud I am to represent our district,” Loutzenhesier said after the board voted to approve the contract.
