Chandler-Gilbert announces college’s Future48 aerospace, defense accelerator

Posted

The Maricopa County Community College District and Chandler-Gilbert Community College joined Arizona Gov. Katie Hobbs, Arizona Commerce Authority leaders and industry partners Feb. 19 for the launch of the Aerospace & Defense Future48 Workforce Accelerator.

The aerospace and defense-focused facility will open in the fall of 2026 at CGCC’s Williams campus.

Hobbs has also made recent appearances at MCCCD’s other Future48 facilities around the Valley.

MCCCD will receive $6 million from the Commerce Authority to support the training facility. Students will have access to flexible training spaces, labs and industry-standard equipment.

The accelerator will expand CGCC’s aviation programs, building on existing offerings, such as aircraft maintenance technology, providing degrees and certificate pathways in airframe, powerplant, and comprehensive maintenance, as well as airway science technology.

The expansion is expected to support nearly 1,000 students annually. Learn more at maricopa.edu/industry.
