A new Series 12 restaurant liquor license is being sought for Maggie’s Lounge, which is to be at the site of the closed Good Apple Natural Market health food store in Apache Junction.
The Apache Junction City Council voted unanimously July 2 to recommend that the Arizona Department of Liquor License and Control approve the liquor license at the business, 100 N. Plaza Drive.
“We’re looking forward to it opening up,” Mayor Chip Wilson said after the vote.
Four entities — Apache Junction Police Department, the city’s building and safety division, the city’s planning and zoning department, and the Superstition Fire and Medical District — were asked to do safety and code compliance inspections and none had any reasons for the application to be denied or to be held back, City Clerk Jennifer Pena said to the council.
“Development services — we checked with them. There are permits currently because the building is under renovations and so while the liquor license can move forward, there will be no business conducted at this site until they receive their final inspection and (certificate of occupancy),” she said.
