Velma Teague Library returns to Glendale workshop agenda

The future of Velma Teague Branch Library will be discussed by the Glendale City Council  Tuesday afternoon, for the first time since January.

By a 5-2 margin at its Dec. 10, 2024, workshop, with the consent of now-former council members Joyce Clark and Ian Hugh, the council agreed to advance two contracts including money for the demolition for the current Velma Teague building.

During the Jan. 14 meeting, council member Leandro Baldenegro changed his stance on the demolition of the current Velma Teague building and moving the library to the Promenade on Palmaire. With that - and new council member Lupe Conchas making it clear he favored keeping the library in Murphy Park, as do Lauren Tolmachoff and Bart Turner - the council unanimously voted to take the money for demolition out of its contract.
