Mountain Ridge badminton ends season of improvement

Glendale school makes 6A quarterfinals

Mountain Ridge badminton remained among the best in Division I this season, which was not a sure thing after four of last season's top six graduated in May.

The Mountain Lions won their opener, then lost four straight to some of Arizona's elite. They did not lose again until Tuesday, in the second round of the team state tournament.

The team beat rival O'Connor 5-1 in the first round Monday, then fell to #3 Phoenix Desert Vista 5-1 Tuesday.
