Man indicted for running red lights, causing fatal accident in Glendale

Maricopa County Attorney Rachel Mitchell announced that Ali Alebadi, 20, has been indicted for a high-speed crash and pursuit that killed one person and seriously injured two others in Glendale.

On March 22,, Alebadi allegedly ran multiple red lights and reached speeds of more than 90 miles per hour while driving through downtown Glendale. His erratic driving resulted in two crashes.

In the first, a patrol car pursuing Alebadi collided with a pickup truck.  Then the defendant allegedly ran a red light at 51st and Glendale avenues, hitting a car and killing the passenger.

Maricopa County Attorney Rachel Mitchell announced that Ali Alebadi, 20, has been indicted for a high-speed crash and pursuit that killed one person and seriously injured two others in Glendale.

On March 22,, Alebadi allegedly ran multiple red lights and reached speeds of more than 90 miles per hour while driving through downtown Glendale. His erratic driving resulted in two crashes.

In the first, a patrol car pursuing Alebadi collided with a pickup truck.  Then the defendant allegedly ran a red light at 51st and Glendale avenues, hitting a car and killing the passenger.

A grand jury indicted Alebadi on multiple felony charges:

  • One count of first-degree murder, a class one felony.
  • One count of second-degree murder, a class one dangerous felony.
  • Two counts of aggravated assault, a class three dangerous felony.
  • One count of unlawful flight from law enforcement vehicle, a class five felony.

Alebadi is being held on a $3 million cash bond. Trial is set for April 2027.

Mitchell's office  criminal charge is merely an accusation, and the defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
