Tuesday night's Glendale City Council installation ceremony was less about symbolism and more of a sea change.
Newcomers Lupe Conchas and Dianna Guzman took their oaths of office and spoke to the overflow crowd at the Glendale Civic Center. The moments also marked the departure of two council members with 12 years of service in Joyce Clark (24 years) and Ian Hugh (12 years).
Re-elected Mayor Jerry Weiers and council member Ray Malnar - both who ran unopposed - also were sworn in. Weiers also spoke to the crowd while Malnar, who was not there, had taped a speech earlier.
