DOMESTIC VIOLENCE AWARENESS

Glendale Mayor celebrates work of Family Advocacy Center

Posted

Glendale Mayor Jerry P. Weiers recently presented a proclamation recognizing October as Domestic Violence Awareness Month and honoring the work of the Glendale Police Department’s Family Advocacy Center.

Domestic Violence Awareness Month is an opportunity to raise awareness, support survivors and recognize the organizations and individuals working to help those impacted by domestic violence and other crimes.

In Glendale, the Family Advocacy Center plays an important role in connecting residents and families with support, guidance and resources during some of life’s most difficult situations.

“The Family Advocacy Center provides a place where victims and survivors can feel safe, supported and heard,” Weiers stated in a press release. “The team provides guidance and resources with dignity, respect and hope, helping Glendale families navigate difficult circumstances and move toward healing.”

The police department’s Family Advocacy Center works to ensure survivors feel supported and heard as they navigate the criminal justice system and their journey of healing.

The center connects victims with a variety of resources and support services and works with community partners to help address their needs. Victims and their families access the assistance they need in one location.

“Glendale is blessed to have such a dedicated and compassionate team at our Family Advocacy Center. Their genuine care for our residents and families makes a meaningful difference in our community,” said Mayor Weiers.
