Patti Blanco, a poetry and poetic prose writer, will offer free writing advice in one-on-one consultations and in workshops to people of any skill levels and genres at different Glendale public libraries through the city's Writer in Residence program from this weekend through Dec. 20.
Blanco will help participants find their momentum when they are feeling stuck by learning how to compose poems with just a few lines during The Small Gesture: The Art of Poetic Miniature workshop 10:30-11:45 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 10 in the Main Library at 5959 W. Brown St.
Attendees will review short poetic forms, including haiku and tanka, as well as the work of contemporary poets, including Kenneth Koch, Louise Glück and Charles Simic, to inspire their own writing.
