The Glendale Chamber of Commerce is seeking a leader to become its next President and Chief Executive Officer.

Current President and CEO Joshua Gun was hired May 2, 2024 and took office last June. On June 5, Gunn released a letter informing the community that he is stepping down effective July 23, returning home to North Carolina to be closer to family and continue his professional journey.

The chamber’s mission is to serve as the voice of business in Glendale – championing business success and driving economic growth through advocacy, strategic connections and regional influence. Glendale has a population of more than 250,000 and is in the West Valley region of the Phoenix MSA of more than 4.5 million people.

The chamber has more than 1,400 members, making it the largest business organization in the West Valley and fourth largest chamber in Arizona. The chamber serves as the “community connector” among its membership and constituents and works to be a progressive and inclusive force in the region.

Glendale Chamber of Commerce endeavors to help members of all sizes grow their businesses and offers more than 90 networking, educational, and training events and opportunities year-round. The chamber publishes "The VOICE of Business" magazine each quarter. For information, visit this website.

The President & Chief Executive Officer reports to the chair of the four-member executive committee of the chamber’s more than 20-member board of directors, which meets monthly. The executive committee meets on an as-needed basis.

The CEO directly supervises the chamber staff who hold both full time and part time positions. Other important relationships include: representatives and employees of chamber member organizations; county and municipal elected and appointed officials; state and national elected officials and their staff; representatives of other public and private sector organizations with related community and economic development missions; university, technical college and K-12 education officials; military leaders; and members of the media.

As the chief executive and administrative officer of the chamber, the CEO’s leadership and management includes but is not limited to: annual business plan; strategic plan; organizational structure; motivation of volunteers; budget; employment, training and supervision of staff; interpretation of policy; and other necessary functions of a highly effective chamber of commerce.

The ideal candidate will bring more than 10 years of progressively responsible experience, with a minimum of three years in senior leadership. Board interaction, experience leading large numbers of volunteers, experience leading within a growing community, and demonstrated experience overcoming challenges are all strongly desired.
