With voters having restored the 15% maintenance and operations override this past November, Deer Valley Unified School District looks to have more money to work with as the fiscal year 27 district budget process nears completion.
This past year the district had to trim $11 million from its budget as a result of the override — which was authorized in 2019 — sunsetting its funding in 2025. That $11 million loss amounted to cutting almost 50 staff positions and also raised fees for extracurricular activities.
On Tuesday of this week the board formally adopted the fiscal year 27 budget and is on track to complete the process by its July 15 deadline. The next board meeting will be Tuesday, July 7.
