U.S. Department of Labor Acting Secretary Keith Sonderling visited Glendale-based Western Maricopa Education Center, a public high school career and technical education district, on Sept. 2 at the West-MEC Southeast Campus.
He received a look at how career and technical education, industry partnerships and work-based learning are preparing Arizona students for the workforce.
During the visit, Sonderling toured West-MEC’s newest campus in Phoenix, spoke with students about their career training and participated in a workforce development roundtable with education, industry and community leaders from Maricopa County.
