Testing could lead to water discoloration in Gilbert

The Town of Gilbert is planning a required water shutdown to relocate a portion of 24” potable water pipeline Jan. 6 as a part of CIP Project WW1060, shutting down valves along Lindsay Road.

The procedure itself will not cause any disruption to water service, however it will cause water to be redistributed through other lines. When this happens, sometimes sediment can stir up and cause discoloration in your tap water for a short period of time.

Town officials said that although discolored, the water is still disinfected and safe to use.

This may impact households between Baseline Road and Warner Road (north to south), and Greenfield Road to McQueen Road (east to west).

Town staff pledged to work proactively flush the system, speeding up the process of clearing the discoloration. The issue will be resolved over a few hours as more water is used, and the lines are flushed.

If, after a couple of hours, a customer's water is still not clear, they are asked to contact the town by calling 480-503-6400. Customers can also submit a request via Gilbert 311 using the “Water - Quality (Brown Water)” category and the town's water team will follow up with the customer.
