Gilbert working on water resiliency amid future uncertainty

As Gilbert braces for an uncertain water future, the town is taking proactive steps — supported by council investments and community participation — to build resilience, town officials said.

With 41% of Gilbert’s water portfolio dependent on Central Arizona Project water from the Colorado River, potential cuts pose a significant threat. To address this, the town has implemented both supply-boosting and demand-reducing measures, Gilbert’s Water Resources Manager Lauren Hixson said.

Hixson spoke to Gilbert Town Council and executive staff at its Nov. 20 retreat about the town’s water resiliency efforts.
