A man died early Wednesday morning in a shooting at Williams Field and Higley roads that involved Phoenix police.
No officers were injured, and Gilbert police said there are no outstanding suspects.
Higley Road will be closed for "an extended period" just south of Williams Field Road due to the officer-involved shooting, authorities said early Wednesday.
Officers from the Phoenix Police Department were following up on a case that led them to the area of Williams Field Road and Higley roads where the shooting occurred, according to a Gilbert Police Department social media post.
At about 5:30 p.m. Tuesday, Phoenix police began investigating after receiving reports of a woman being forced inside a pickup truck by a man near Interstate 10 and 51st Avenue.
Officers identified the two and tracked the vehicle to the Gilbert intersection about midnight. The man was shot and killed, and the woman was injured and taken to a hospital.
Sgt. Brian Bower asks anyone who has information about the incident in Phoenix to contact the Phoenix Police Department.
