Gilbert Public Schools' first governing board meeting under new Superintendent Jared Ryan was a brief, routine session Tuesday that reflected a district preparing for the start of another school year rather than tackling major policy issues.
Ryan opened his inaugural superintendent's report by highlighting the district's recent new teacher kickoff, which welcomed nearly 160 certified staff members, recognized several community partners and noted that more than 30,000 students will return to the district's 38 campuses when classes begin July 28.
"Joining our GPS team isn't just taking a job, it's becoming part of our true family here of educators," Ryan said.
