Higley High earned the AIA 6A Sportsmanship Award after recording perfect scores in every category — coaches, players and fans — for all home and away games during the regular season.

The AIA confirmed it was the highest rating ever recorded for a large school in association history.

Athletic Director Aaron Dille credited coach Eddy Zubey, his staff, players and parents for setting the standard.

ALA Gilbert North received the 2025 5A Sportsmanship Award, an honor given to one team among 50 in the division that best demonstrates integrity, leadership and positive behavior on and off the field.

The award capped a season in which the Eagles advanced to the 5A semifinals.

Despite an enrollment size typical of 3A schools, ALA Gilbert North continues to compete at the 5A level, reflecting the school’s emphasis on its R.A.I.S.E. values: Respect, Accountability, Integrity, Service and Excellence.

Both programs say the recognition underscores their commitment to excellence beyond wins and losses.
