Gilbert to host groundwater recharge, midge fly open house

Posted

Gilbert residents will have an opportunity to learn about local groundwater recharge operations and midge fly management efforts during a public open house scheduled for Sept. 10.

The event will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. at the South Area Service Center, 4760 S. Greenfield Road.

Hosted by Gilbert Public Works, the open house will focus on the South Recharge Facility and the role groundwater recharge plays in supporting the town's long-term water supply.

Staff members will be available to answer questions and provide information about facility operations and insect concerns, including midge flies.

Attendees will be able to visit informational booths, view drone footage and video presentations of the facility, and speak with town staff about water infrastructure and environmental management efforts. Light refreshments will be provided.

The event is open to the public.
