Gilbert students join leadership group to share campus perspectives

Thirteen students representing Gilbert Public Schools high school campuses are participating in the district’s Superintendent’s Student Senate, a leadership program that gives students an opportunity to share feedback and help inform districtwide discussions.

The Senate meets monthly with Superintendent Jared Ryan, Assistant Superintendent of Secondary Education Marcie Taylor and other district leaders. Students bring perspectives from their campuses, discuss issues affecting their peers and provide input on programs and initiatives across the district.

The town of Gilbert also is participating in the program through its Teen Ambassadors initiative. Town Councilmember Yung Koprowski attended the group’s first meeting of the school year in August and is expected to meet with students again later this fall.
