Gilbert Public Schools raises substitute teacher pay by $25 a day

The Gilbert Public Schools Governing Board passed a new substitute teacher pay scale.

Gilbert Public Schools will raise pay for certified substitute teachers by $25 per day beginning Oct. 19 as the district seeks to recruit and retain enough substitutes to meet its staffing needs.

The Governing Board unanimously approved the increase as part of its consent agenda.

Under the new pay schedule, the standard daily rate for certified substitutes will increase from $125 to $150.
