District leaders at Gilbert Public Schools say a new supplemental curriculum is helping gifted and advanced students move beyond traditional classroom work by applying what they learn to hands-on, real-world projects.
Defined Learning, a project-based enrichment curriculum, is being piloted at Greenfield Elementary School.
District officials described the program as a supplemental resource designed primarily for gifted and advanced learners who either already understand grade-level material or learn it at an accelerated pace. The curriculum emphasizes inquiry, collaboration and problem-solving through projects tied to classroom standards.
