Gilbert officials are urging residents to prepare for forecast monsoon storms by securing sandbags, reviewing safety guidance and monitoring weather conditions.
Sand for sandbags is available while supplies last at Gilbert Fire & Rescue stations at 2730 E. Williams Field Road, 1011 E. Guadalupe Road and 3355 E. Ocotillo Road. Residents are asked to bring their own shovels.
The town is also reminding motorists to use caution during severe weather. Officials advise drivers to avoid flooded roadways and areas with standing water, and to pull completely off the roadway if visibility becomes unsafe because of heavy rain or blowing dust.
