The Town of Gilbert is inviting residents to attend an upcoming open house event to provide feedback and learn more about proposed changes to wastewater and reclaimed water rates.
The event will provide an opportunity for community members to gain a better understanding of Gilbert’s utilities, why rate adjustments are necessary, the potential impact to utility bills and the steps the town is taking to ensure the maintenance and improvement of Gilbert’s wastewater infrastructure is up to date.
"Sewer System and Rates 101" will be held at 5 p.m. Jan. 21 at glbrt.is/RatesOpenHouse , Residents and utility customers are encouraged to attend one of the following events to learn more and provide feedback:
The virtual open house is a chance to learn more about the proposed rate changes for sewer and reclaimed water and why maintaining and replacing our sewer system is important for public health and safety.
Participants will also have an opportunity to learn how the proposed changes could impact their monthly utility bill starting in April 2025.
An in-person session will be held 6-7:30 p.m. Jan. 29 at the Southeast Regional Library's Shakespeare Room, 775 N. Greenfield Road, Gilbert.
Gilbert also has a Community Feedback Form available through Jan. 31: glbrt.is/WWRatesFeedback.
Gilbert’s sewer system transports and treats wastewater from homes and businesses, ensuring it is processed safely and reused efficiently. Just as homes and vehicles require regular maintenance and eventual replacement, Gibert’s sewer and reclaimed water systems also demand necessary investments to ensure they remain fully operational and safe for public use.
Council will vote on the next steps for wastewater and reclaimed water rate changes during a public hearing at Gilbert Town Hall at 6:30 p.m. Feb. 11.
