Gilbert homelessness count rises

But town points to regional partnerships and support programs

Gilbert’s unsheltered homelessness count increased in 2026, mirroring broader regional challenges across Maricopa County even as East Valley communities saw an overall decline in unsheltered homelessness.

The Maricopa Regional Continuum of Care’s annual Point-in-Time Count found 35 unsheltered people in Gilbert during the January 2026 survey, up from 22 in 2025 and 16 in 2024.

Across the East Valley, unsheltered homelessness declined from 940 people in 2025 to 907 this year.
